Arvin Names Lipe Vice President of Information Technology
COLUMBUS, Ind.--Sept. 29, 1998--Arvin Industries Inc. announced today that Richard A. Smith, chief financial officer, named Perry L. Lipe vice president, Information Technology, for the $2.3 billion manufacturer of vehicle exhaust systems and ride control products.Lipe joins Arvin after 19 years of increasing responsibility in the Information Technology area for Fisher Controls, a division of Emerson Electric. Fisher Controls is a manufacturer of valves, instruments and gas regulators.
"Perry brings to Arvin a full range of information service (I.S.) experience including global I.S. accomplishments and client/server architecture applications," said Richard Smith. "Perry's leadership in the I.S. areas will allow Arvin to benefit as we expand on a global basis to serve vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
"As head of I.S., Perry will be responsible functionally for all information technology and applications throughout the company. Specifically, he will assess current systems, organizational structure and staffing. Perry's primary focus will be on developing an I.S. strategy and a multigenerational plan to transition the company to a system that will support our global growth," Smith concluded.
Lipe's service to Fisher Controls was most recently as director, Information Systems. Lipe started his career with the State of Illinois in the Department of Public Safety where he supported the implementation of The National Crime Information Center.
Lipe received his B.A. in economics and an M.A. in business administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield. He will be relocating to Columbus from Marshalltown, Iowa.
