RECARO North America Awarded ISO 9001 Certification

    CLAWSON, Mich., Sept. 29 -- RECARO North America, a renowned
automotive specialty seating supplier headquartered in Clawson, Mich., has
received ISO 9001 certification -- approximately one year after the company's
official grand opening in the summer of 1997.  RECARO North America is the
U.S. subsidiary of German-based RECARO GmbH & Co.
    "RECARO North America's successful ISO 9001 audit demonstrates our
commitment to providing quality products and services to our customers," said
Douglas Eriksen, president and chief executive officer of RECARO North
America.  "We are proud to have earned this esteemed quality standard, and
this certification could not have been possible without the hard work and
dedication of every RECARO North America employee."
    RECARO is synonymous with premium-quality specialty seating, serving the
automotive, heavy truck, bus/transit, aftermarket, motorsports and specialty
markets.
    In April, RECARO and Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) announced a joint venture
that integrates the strengths of RECARO and JCI to develop and market premium-
quality specialty seating products for the North American passenger car and
light truck markets, employing the RECARO brand name.
    And on Sept. 16, RECARO signed a letter of intent with Sears Manufacturing
Co., (RECARO SEARS LLC), to combine truck seating operations to develop,
manufacture and market next-generation seating for the heavy truck, bus and
mass transit industries in North America.
    RECARO North America, located in Clawson, Mich., is the U.S. subsidiary of
