Nine Standard Products Plants Honored with Safety Awards
DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 25 -- The Standard Products Company
announced that nine of its North American manufacturing plants
received corporate environmental/health and safety awards for their zero lost
time accident records. The plants honored include five automotive plants, two
Holm Industries, Inc. plants and two Oliver Rubber plants. Holm and Oliver
are wholly owned subsidiaries of Standard Products.
The winner of the 1998 corporate environmental/health and safety
excellence award was Standard Products (Canada) Limited's plant 3 in
Stratford, Ontario. The automotive parts plant completed its seventh
consecutive year of operation without a lost time accident. Also receiving
awards for achieving zero lost time accidents in fiscal 1998 were:

    * Standard Products (Canada) Limited's plant 8 in Stratford, Ontario

      Stratford, Ontario
    * Standard Products Company's plant in Griffin, Georgia
    * The Standard Products Mexico plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico
    * Oliver Rubber Company's plant in Export, Pennsylvania
    * Oliver Rubber Company's Salisbury Machinery Company plant in
      Salisbury, North Carolina
    * Holm Industries' plant in Hartselle, Alabama
    * Holm Industries' plant in New Ulm, Minnesota.

"We initiated the corporate environmental/health and safety award program
this year both to honor selected plants for their achievements and to
highlight the importance we place on our employees' health and safety," said
Ron Roudebush, Standard Products' vice chairman and chief executive officer.
"For these plants to go 12 months without a single lost time accident is a
significant accomplishment.
"Even more impressive is the long-term performance of our plant 3 in
Stratford, Ontario, which has gone seven years without a lost time accident,
and our Oliver Rubber plant in Export, Pennsylvania, which marked its sixth
consecutive year without a lost time accident. We hope all our plants will
view these awards as a further incentive to strive for perfect safety
records."
