ALLDATA Provides Over 118,000 More Electronic Pages of Diagnostic & Repair Information in the 3rd Quarter 1998 Database UpdateELK GROVE, Calif., Sept. 24 -- ALLDATA(R) Corporation, the market leader in publishing Electronic Automotive Diagnostic and Repair Information, added 118,805 electronic pages and 203,439 images to the ALLDATA(R) Database this quarter, continuing to help an estimated 86,000 automotive shop owners and technicians fix automobiles faster and more accurately. New information added to the ALLDATA 3rd Quarter release includes extensive 1997 Diagnostic & Repair Information, as well as Powertrain Management, Transmission, Wiring Diagram, Electrical Troubleshooting, Technical Service Bulletin and NHTSA Bulletin pages. The database now includes more than one million images and illustrations and is the equivalent of approximately 11 million pages if printed as separate manuals. "ALLDATA is focused on adding large volumes of the most current data to the database and ensuring that the quality of the content is at the highest level ever produced by an aftermarket repair information source," explains Jeffery Lagges, Senior Vice President of Product Development. ALLDATA for Windows includes: A2Z(TM) Component Search -- With the new A2Z Component Search Tool, technicians can quickly find important component level vehicle repair detail. Rather than browsing through multiple sections of the database, technicians can simply click on the A2Z screen icon -- no matter where they are in the database -- and enter a partial or complete component name. As the component name is being entered, the ALLDATA system will begin displaying the components that are available. Hyperlinking -- Allows technicians to jump between related articles anywhere in the database. Hyperlinks also keep track of technicians' paths so they can return to any article in a single mouse click. Image+Text Display -- ALLDATA's adjustable split screen provides for simultaneous viewing of text and images, without toggling between screens. The zoom feature enlarges images with a click of the mouse, enabling users to see the smallest detail. ABS Diagnostic Procedures -- ALLDATA provides the most up-to-date electronic brake system diagnostics. Technical Service Bulletins from Vehicle Manufacturer -- Technicians can access the most up-to-date factory fixes available. When technicians look at a repair procedure for a given component, they will see all of the TSB's related to that component. Original Equipment Illustrations -- The ALLDATA database contains over one million Original Equipment Illustrations, including wiring diagrams, locations, and detailed automotive repair illustrations to help technicians fix vehicles right the first time. Fast Access to Parts & Labor Information -- Image Hot Spots provide the fastest, easiest way to identify the exact parts that repair shops need. Technicians simply "click" on the highlighted parts within component diagrams, and the system automatically displays the associated Original Equipment Manufacturer part numbers, prices and recommended labor times.
