Ronald J. McEvoy Joins Midas as Chief Information Officer

    CHICAGO--Sept. 22, 1998--Ronald J. McEvoy has joined Midas, Inc., as executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO), a new post.
    "Ron McEvoy is a nationally recognized expert in information technology, who will play a major role in the re-engineering of Midas' systems and business processes to support our franchisees and their nearly 2,150 Midas automotive service stores in North America," said Wendel H. Province, Midas' chairman and chief executive officer.
    McEvoy's leadership as a CIO was recognized in July when he was selected for a Top 10 CIO Award by Retail Technology magazine. In 1996, he was named as one of the Top 7 "New Breed of CIOs" by Beyond Computing magazine.
    McEvoy, 51, has been a featured speaker worldwide on business re-engineering and the innovative use of information technology.
    McEvoy's career in the retail industry spans more than 25 years. He has held a variety of management and information technology posts at May Department Stores, Carter Hawley Hale, British American Tobacco and Fred Meyer. He most recently served as senior vice president and CIO at Pep Boys in Philadelphia.
