Nematron to Supply OpenControl(TM) Workstations to OpelNematron Industrial Control Computers(TM), OpenControl(TM), and Paragon(TM) Selected as Platform for an Integrated PC-Based Automation Solution ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 22 -- Nematron Corporation said today that its Pentium-based OpenControl(TM) Workstations have been selected by Adam Opel for its Opel plant in Kaiserslautern, Germany as an element of a completely integrated PC-based open architecture control solution. The OpenControl(TM) Workstation integrates Nematron's Pentium-based Industrial Control Computers(TM) (ICC(TM)), the OpenControl(TM) direct machine control software, and the Paragon(TM) HMI (Human-Machine Interface) software. Both OpenControl(TM) and Paragon(TM) use the Imagination Systems revolutionary HyperKERNEL(R) to provide real-time deterministic performance. With this completely integrated package, Nematron provides a PC-based solution that is unique to the automation industry. "This further solidifies Nematron's position as the leading supplier of PC-based control solutions, and increases our market share in automotive applications", said Timothy E. Wallaert, Vice President of Product Management. Based on Intel's Pentium processors, Nematron's ICC(TM)s are among the fastest industrial computers available on the market today with up to 300 MHz Pentium II processors. The ICC(TM)s have patented technology to reduce MTTR and provide for easy installation. In addition, Nematron is the only supplier of industrial computers to have achieved Microsoft's PC 97 level of compatibility for Microsoft's operating systems. PC 97 signifies that the hardware is compatible with Microsoft Windows(R) NT, Microsoft Windows(R) 95 and Microsoft Windows(R) 98 and meets the Designed for Windows NT and Windows 95 requirements. OpenControl(TM) uses patented flowchart programming to simplify machine control. Using HyperKERNEL(R) for its real-time extension for Windows NT allows OpenControl(TM) to provide hard real-time deterministic control performance. The latest release of Paragon(TM) 5.3 includes ICCFrames(TM), provides a simple easy to use operator interface that allows users to quickly build screens for the ICC to display data from OpenControl(TM), further enhancing the seamless integration of OpenControl(TM), Paragon(TM), and the ICC(TM). The discussion in this news release includes forward-looking statements based on current management expectations. Factors that could cause future results to differ from these expectations include: general economic conditions particularly related to general demand for automation equipment, competitive factors (including the introduction or enhancement of competitive products), changes in customer requirements, evolving industry standards or any additional factors described in the Company's reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
