Grease Monkey Holding Corporation Announces the Appointment of Rex L. Utsler As President And Chief Operating Officer, And James B. Wallace As Chief Executive Officer

    DENVER, Sept. 18 -- Grease Monkey Holding Corporation
(OTC Bulletin Board: GMHC) today announced the hiring of Rex L. Utsler as
President and Chief Operating Officer.  Mr. Utsler left the Company in March
1997 to pursue other opportunities and will rejoin the Company in the role
noted above effective September 18, 1998.  James B. Wallace, the Chairman of
the Company's Board of Directors, will become the Company's Chief Executive
Officer.
    Grease Monkey International, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the
Company, is one of the nation's largest franchisors of fast lube and oil
change centers.  With 209 centers in the United States and Mexico, of which 33
are company owned, Grease Monkey is one of the largest fast lube and oil
change companies.  In Colorado, there are 53 Grease Monkey centers, of which
19 are company owned.
