Automakers Slash Prices

16 September 1998

ADVISORY/Automakers Slash Prices

    --Sept. 16, 1998--

TOPIC: A decline in consumer confidence and a changing world market have led to an apparent automotive price war. According to reports, manufacturers are adding features to their 1999 lines even as they cut sticker prices by as much as $5,000. The reductions are due in part to cost-cutting by automakers, as well as lower than anticipated sales at dealerships.
