15 September 1998
Dolphin Pulse Charge Technology Filed with U.S. Patent OfficeCHULA VISTA, Calif., Sept. 15 -- BAT International (OTC Bulletin Board: BAAT) and the inventors of Dolphin Pulse Charge technology have filed patents last week with the U.S. Patent Office. BAT is also preparing patent applications for filing in worldwide patent offices over the next year. A renowned San Francisco registered patent attorney who assisted in the filing called it "one of the most significant patents I've reviewed." BAT was originally going to file a provisional patent on Dolphin Pulse Charge technology in connection with the initial successful field tests completed in January/February, 1998. Upon advice from BAT's patent attorney, BAT decided it was best to file only a final patent to incorporate the continual improvement in the technology since the January and February demonstrations. In recent tests, the "BAT Supercar" achieved over 81 miles per gallon (mpg) at 55 miles per hour (mph) on a coastal California freeway in a certified fuel economy comparison against the Toyota Prius hybrid electric vehicle. The Toyota Prius, (referred to by some as the most fuel efficient production vehicle in the world) achieved 62 miles per gallon in the same 55 mph highway field test (see press release 8/31/98). The "BAT Supercar" also achieved 65 miles per gallon on the "Pomona Loop" urban drive cycle (see press release 9/2/98). BAT has financed the research and development effort to commercialize Dolphin Pulse Charge technology that has included capital, technical support and engineering resources of the Corporation. The inventors of Dolphin Pulse Charge technology have transferred all rights to the technology to B.A.T. International. BAT plans on licensing the technology world-wide on a non-exclusive basis to a variety of automotive, truck and engine manufacturers including major auto companies, truck companies, aircraft engine manufacturers and other interested parties. With the filing of the Dolphin Pulse Charge technology patent, BAT can now disclose and discuss the technology with interested companies. BAT International is organized as a holding company with major ownership position in a set of subsidiary companies now commercializing advanced automotive and energy technology products developed by BAT over the last six years, including Dolphin Pulse Charge technology. Other products include advanced lubricant additives, electric vehicles, advanced batteries and power electronics, electric bicycles & scooters, and electric power generation, (for information, see BAT web site http://www.baat.com or call Cheryl Mitchell (360) 384-2730.
