Peter G. Duffy Named Managing Director at Australia Timken Proprietary Ltd.BALLARAT, Victoria, Australia, Sept. 15 -- Peter G. Duffy has been named managing director of Australian Timken Proprietary Limited. In making the announcement, James W. Griffith, group vice president - bearings - North America automotive, Asia Pacific and Latin America, said Mr. Duffy will be replacing John Hoover, who is returning to the United States to assume a new position. "We are welcoming Peter Duffy back to Ballarat as managing director," said Mr. Griffith. "Peter is the individual most qualified to lead this organization through its transformation from automotive parts manufacturer to an even stronger marketer in Australia. He is returning to work with the Australian team to determine appropriate investments toward that goal." Mr. Duffy joined Australian Timken in 1971 as an accountant in Ballarat. He also served as company secretary from 1976 to 1987. In 1987, he moved to Canton, Ohio, where he held the positions of executive assistant - bearings - North and South America, and later was named area manager - large industrial bearings for the Canton Bearing Plant. He returned to Ballarat in 1991 as managing director and, in 1995, was named president - Timken Asia Pacific, in Hong Kong. Most recently, he was president - Timken China. A graduate of St. Patrick's College and the School of Mines Ballarat (now the University of Ballarat), Mr. Duffy completed the Advanced Management Program at Melbourne University and the Management Program for Executives at the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife will be moving from Hong Kong to Ballarat in the near future. The Timken Company is a leading international manufacturer of highly engineered bearings and alloy steels.
