Delphi Goes Over the Forty Mark for Mexican Environmental Awards
    CD. JUAREZ, Chih., Mexico, Sept. 11/ PRNewswire/ -- The Mexican government
today recognized an additional nine Delphi Automotive Systems plants for
outstanding environmental achievements.
    The Industria Limpia or Clean Industry award is the most prestigious award
granted by the Mexican government for environmental compliance and leadership
by companies in Mexico.  These awards are the result of a 1994 agreement
reached between GM/Delphi and the Mexican environmental agency
(SEMARNAP/PROFEPA).
    Bernardo Escudero, Worldwide Environmental Group Administrator at Delphi
Automotive Systems in Mexico said, "This is the culmination of a series of
activities and great team efforts, undertaken by our plants to reach
compliance with environmental standards and laws in this country.  These
certified plants improved their control systems and in many areas now exceed
both corporate and federal regulations."
    Antonio Azuela de la Cueva, Federal Environmental Protection Attorney
congratulated the honorees and said, "In Mexico, Delphi is an environmental
leader, a benchmark for the industry."
    With these latest awards, Delphi has received 41 of the 181 awards ever
given for outstanding environmental achievement in Mexico.  Seven of today's
honorees are Delphi Packard Electric Systems plants, one is Delphi Chassis
Systems and the other is Delphi Energy and Engine Management Systems.
