Ford Executive BiographiesDEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 11 -- Ford Motor Company released today the bios of Alex Trotman, William Clay Ford, Jr., and Jacques A. Nasser: ALEX TROTMAN, chairman, chief executive officer and president since Nov. 1, 1993. Announced plans to retire Jan. 1, 1999. Born July 22, 1933, in Middlesex, England. Educated at Boroughmuir School in Edinburgh, Scotland. Received master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University. Joined Ford of Britain in 1955 as a student trainee and held a number of managerial positions in product planning. Named director of Ford of Europe's Car Planning Office in 1967. Came to the United States in 1969 on special assignment for advanced car product planning. Was appointed chief car planning manager for Car Product Development Group in 1975, executive director of operations planning in 1977 and assistant general manager of Truck and Recreation Products Operations in 1978. Rejoined Ford of Europe in October 1979 and elected a company vice president one month later when he was named vice president - Truck Operations, Ford of Europe. Appointed president - Ford Asia-Pacific Inc. in 1983. Became president - Ford of Europe Oct. 1, 1984, and chairman - Ford of Europe, March 1, 1988. Was elected an executive vice president Jan. 12, 1989, and became executive vice president - Operations, North American Automotive Operations Feb. 1, 1989. Named executive vice president - North American Automotive Operations May 1, 1989. Elected president and chief operating officer - Ford Automotive Group and to the Ford Board of Directors on Jan. 1, 1993. WILLIAM CLAY FORD, JR., elected chairman of the Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1, 1999. Born May 3, 1957. Vice chairman of the Detroit Lions professional football team and a member of the NFL Finance Committee and NFL Properties Committee. Was elected to Ford Motor Company's Board of Directors on Jan. 14, 1988. Mr. Ford formerly was a Ford Motor Company vice president overseeing the Commercial Truck Vehicle Center in Ford Automotive Operations. He joined the company in 1979 and served in several positions before embarking on a 12-month course of study as an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 1983. When he returned to Ford he joined Finance Staff and in 1985 was appointed to a management position in Car Product Development. He traveled to Europe in 1986 where he was appointed director of Commercial Vehicle Marketing for Ford of Europe. He was elected chairman and managing director of Ford Switzerland in 1987. In 1989 Mr. Ford returned to the U.S. and assigned to Ford Truck Operations and later manager of Heavy Truck Engineering and Manufacturing. He was named director of Business Strategy for the Ford Automotive Group in March 1990 and became executive director a year later. He was appointed general manager of Climate Control Division in August 1992. Mr. Ford serves as chairman of the Finance Committee, and is a member of the Organization Review and Nominating Committee. He also is chairman of the Environmental and Public Policy Issues Committee. JACQUES A. NASSER, elected president and chief executive office, effective Jan. 1, 1999. Presently executive vice president, president- - -Ford Automotive Operations and chairman - Ford of Europe. Born Dec. 12, 1947. Received degree in business studies from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Joined Ford of Australia in 1968 as a financial analyst and held a number of positions with Ford's international and U.S. operations, including assignments in Asia-Pacific and Latin America. In 1987, was named director - vice president, Finance and Administration, for Autolatina, the holding company that oversees Ford and Volkswagen operations in Brazil and Argentina. Named president of Ford of Australia in February 1990. Elected a company vice president and named chairman of Ford of Europe Inc., Jan. 1, 1993. Became group vice president - Product Development, Ford Automotive Operations, on May 1, 1994. Assumed present position Nov. 1, 1996.
