G.K. Industries Announces Re-Certification of ISO 9002

WOODBRIDGE, Ontario--(AutomotiveWire)--Sept. 8, 1998--G.K. Industries announced today that its quality system has recently been re-certified to adhere to the International ISO 9002 standard.
The Company is one of North America's leading suppliers of full line programs of fuel filters, transmission filter kits and breather elements to the automotive aftermarket, and was the first North American-based supplier in these product categories to receive the ISO 9002 certification on March 27th, 1995.
Since 1972, the Company has been successful by ensuring that its product offerings consistently meet and exceed the quality standards demanded by the industry. GKI's quality assurance system manages all aspects of the product, starting with product design and the development of raw material suppliers, through to production methods, inspection and testing. This ISO re-certification confirms the ongoing consistency of this process as well as all other major operating systems within the Company.
As the industry continues to experience major change through consolidation, GKI remains focused on positioning itself correctly in the marketplace. For over 10 years the Company was a prime supplier of bulk filter products to the national brand filter companies. In 1994 GKI began a strategy to supply its products in packaged formats directly to the major distribution channels. These ongoing efforts are proving successful, as evidenced by GKI's approved vendor status to several of the largest traditional and retail distribution chains in Canada and the USA. Transmission filter kit sales and GKI boxed fuel filter sales have increased rapidly. Today, the Company's products are sold under both private labels and the GKI brand name in over 3,000 jobber stores and 1,000 retail stores in this market. As well as expanding its market share in North America, GKI is now reaching new customers in Europe, Latin American and Asia.
