Lexus Announces 1999 Prices
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 4 -- The Lexus Division of Toyota
Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today announced availability of its 1999 model
lineup and manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP) for 1999 cars and sport
utility vehicles. Slight increases on certain models reflect product
improvements and addition of popular optional equipment made standard for
1999.
The ES 300 entry-luxury sedan is enhanced by a new, more powerful V6
engine featuring Lexus' acclaimed Variable Valve Timing with intelligence
(VVT-i). This engine is exclusive to the Lexus line and is mated to a more
efficient and responsive automatic transmission. Traction control, daytime
running lights, auto up and down front windows with pinch protection and floor
mats, are newly incorporated as standard equipment. The 1999 ES 300 is priced
at $30,905, an MSRP increase of $115, or 0.4 percent. With its comprehensive
additional standard content, the 1999 ES 300 represents an even better value
than before.
For 1999, the LS 400 premium luxury sedan's extremely popular leather and
walnut-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob option has been incorporated as
standard equipment. MSRP for the LS 400 is $53,605, an increase of $405, or
0.8 percent.
The 1999 SC 300 and SC 400 sport coupes have been upgraded with several
new luxury, safety and environmental enhancements including standard trunk
mounted 6-disc CD auto changer, carpeted floor mats, daytime running lights,
digital sound processor and automatic sound levelizer system. The 1999 SC 300
MSRP is $42,905 up 4.4 percent, or $1805, and the SC 400 will be priced at
$55,205, an increase of 4.2 percent, or $2205.
Introduced just a year ago, the hot-selling GS 300 and GS 400 high-
performance sedans will adopt daytime running lights and carpeted floor mats
as standard equipment. The 1999 GS 300 carries an MSRP of $37,305 up
1.1 percent, or $405, and the GS 400 is priced at $45,505, and increase of
1.2 percent, or $555.
The Lexus RX 300 sport utility vehicle (SUV) MSRP has increased 0.8
percent, or $255 for both the front-wheel and four-wheel drive models, with
new prices set at $33,205 for the four-wheel-drive and $31,805 for the front-
drive version. The LX 470 premium luxury SUV price has increased 1.7 percent,
or $955, to $55,905.
Destination and freight charges remain unchanged at $495.
