Chrysler International Reports August Sales
    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 3 -- Chrysler Corporation
announced that total international sales outside of North America
were down 23 percent for the month of August, with 16,256 units sold compared
to 21,108 units sold one year ago.
    Chrysler's Latin America region reported sales of 3,930 units (a
13 percent decrease).  Other regions include Europe -- 9,058 units sold (a
17 percent decrease), Middle East/Africa -- 959 units sold (a 39 percent
decrease) and Asia/Pacific -- 2,309 units sold (a 44 percent decrease).
    Total international sales year-to-date are down 13 percent, with 137,944
vehicles sold in 1998 compared to 158,550 sold during the same period in 1997.
