BMW Reports Best August on Record; Year-To-Date Sales Up 6 Percent
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Sept. 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc.,
reported August retail sales of 10,477 automobiles and year-to-date sales of
88,485, an increase of 6 percent.
Strong sales were reported across all model lines but of particular note
is a 74 percent increase in roadster sales. The first sales of the new M
Coupe, built in South Carolina, were recorded this month. Sales of the
all-new 3 Series sedan, on sale for the second month, are increasing with
1,227 units sold.
Land Rover North America, Inc., a member of the BMW Group, reported August
sales of 1,714 vehicles and year-to-date sales of 13,535.
Consolidated U.S. August sales for the two companies were 11,894 units
(BMW: 10,477; Land Rover: 1,714) and consolidated year-to-date sales increased
3 percent, to 102,380 vehicles (BMW: 88,845; Land Rover 13,535).
