Goodyear and FedEx Renew Tire Supply ContractAKRON, Ohio, Sept. 2 -_ Goodyear has extended the term of its contract to serve as the tire supplier to Federal Express Corporation's (FedEx) truck and airport ground support equipment in the U.S. and international locations. Under terms of the contract, Goodyear has committed to supply up to 100 percent of FedEx's original equipment, replacement and retreaded tire needs for FedEx's airport and ground support equipment and vehicles. Goodyear currently supplies more than 50 percent of FedEx's new and retreaded tire needs for its aircraft fleet. "The contract signed in 1995 worked so well that both companies decided jointly to expand the scope of the agreement. The new agreement allows Goodyear the potential to supply up to 100 percent of FedEx's global tire needs for vehicles and airport ground support equipment," said Mike Thomann, marketing director for Goodyear's commercial tire products. "This agreement is obviously a win-win situation for both companies," said Lynn Gorman, FedEx's vice president of vehicle maintenance. "Goodyear's reputation for quality, value and reliability, combined with the customer service it has provided throughout the previous contract period, make this agreement a logical choice." The two companies did not disclose the contract specifics.
