GNB Technologies To Power New Toyota "Tundra"
    ATLANTA, Aug. 31 -- GNB Technologies, a leading manufacturer
and recycler of lead-acid batteries, will supply batteries to Toyota Motor
Manufacturing, Inc., for its new V-8-powered pickup, the Tundra.
    "Toyota engineers specified a high performance battery that matches the
energy demands and accessory load of their new, V-8 powered Tundra truck,"
said Dan Becker, Senior Account Manager, Original Equipment Sales for GNB
Technologies.
    The Group 27R batteries for the Tundra are being manufactured at the GNB
facility in Shreveport, LA and shipped to Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Inc. in
Evansville, IN.
    Toyota announced its entry into the full-sized pickup market at a news
conference during the Indiana State Fair.  The Tundra, with an optional 4.7-
liter V-8 engine, will be in showrooms by May, 1999.
