Budget Car Sales Promotes Katzin to Chief Operating Officer
INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 26 -- Budget Car Sales, Inc., one of the
largest independent retailers of late model vehicles in the U.S. and a
subsidiary of Budget Group, Inc. , announced today the promotion of
Michael F. Katzin to chief operating officer.
Since June 1997, Katzin has served as senior vice president,
Administration and general counsel of Budget Car Sales. His career with
Budget first began in 1993 with Budget Rent a Car of Arizona, where he was
vice president and general counsel. When Budget Group, Inc. purchased the
Arizona franchise in 1996, Katzin stayed on as director, Legal Affairs.
Prior to joining Budget, Katzin held executive positions in the steel
industry and with Chrysler International, where he was director, Legal Affairs
in Geneva, Switzerland, and then vice president, Latin American Operations,
responsible for 120 dealerships and three major assembly plants. In addition,
Katzin gained experience in new car dealerships at an early age by working in
his father's Chevrolet store.
"Michael's talents have been vital in helping Budget Car Sales plan and
achieve aggressive growth. His wealth of knowledge and experience will
continue to provide our company with the necessary direction needed to attain
our goals," said Jeffrey Congdon, president of Budget Car Sales.
Budget Car Sales, Inc. is comprised of 33 corporate-owned dealerships in
strategic secondary markets across the nation, such as Albuquerque,
Indianapolis and Winston-Salem. Positioned as "America's New Car
Alternative," Budget Car Sales dealerships provide low mileage, late model
cars to consumers in a new car sales environment.
Budget Group, through subsidiary companies and their franchisees, also
operates Budget Car and Truck Rental, the third largest worldwide car and
truck rental system, and Ryder TRS, the nation's second largest consumer truck
rental company. The company also owns Premier Car Rental, which serves the
insurance replacement market, and Cruise America, the largest recreational
vehicle rental and sales company in North America. The company also operates
airport parking facilities at certain locations and, through Van Pool
Services, leases vans for van pooling operations.
