Integrated Systems Announces Plans for pRISM+ Automotive Embedded Development Environment
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Aug. 24, 1998--
CORBA-based Integrated Development Environment Tailored for
Development of OSEK/VDX Targeted Automotive Applications
Integrated Systems, Inc. , the leading supplier of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded control design tools, today announced it plans to tailor its CORBA-based pRISM+(TM) development environment to automotive embedded applications.
pRISM+ Automotive targets pOSEK, Integrated Systems' OSEK/VDX-compliant RTOS. pRISM+ Automotive is a comprehensive design and development environment that addresses the automotive industry's desire to balance the delivery of greater functionality while reducing costs and time to market. Key elements of Integrated Systems' pRISM+ Automotive solution are currently available and additional components will become available by early 1999.
"The content of embedded silicon in automobiles is expected to rise by a factor of three during the next decade, resulting in a corresponding increase in embedded software content," said Dr. Naren Gupta, chairman, Integrated Systems. "With pRISM+ Automotive, we offer customers an efficient, cost-saving solution backed by a company with unmatched experience in automotive and embedded software."
To balance the pressures for increased functionality, reduced costs and faster time to market, the automotive industry is increasing the number, and software content, of in-vehicle embedded applications. To address this change, the industry has developed an automotive RTOS specification (OSEK/VDX) to address the challenges of increasing in-vehicle software content. The rapid acceptance of this specification has expanded the market for commercial off-the-shelf RTOSs and corresponding application development environments.
pRISM+ Automotive offers the industry an open architecture environment that supports the entire product development life cycle by integrating a range of best-in-class tools. These include tools for analysis, design and co-simulation, rapid prototyping, software development, debug & test and calibration. Applications developed using pRISM+ Automotive will run on pOSEK, Integrated Systems' commercial RTOS, designed in full compliance with the OSEK/VDX specification.
