SAN JOSE, Calif.--Aug. 24, 1998--SILMA, a division of Adept Technology, Inc. , today announced that Ford Motor Company has selected CimStation Inspection as the standard quality management software for offline programming and simulation of coordinate measurement machines.
SILMA has received an initial order and estimates that Ford and its suppliers will invest more than $15 million in SILMA products and services over multiple years.
Charlie Duncheon, senior vice president sales and marketing for Adept commented, "Ford's selection of CimStation Inspection was based on a rigorous testing and evaluation process that helped us improve our product. Now we are truly excited to be part of Ford's industry leading design and engineering strategy and look forward to reducing Ford's engineering costs and time to market with our simulation software products."
CimStation Inspection Software will be used by Ford as part of their ongoing design engineering automation programs to reduce new product development and introduction cycles. In addition, Adept's SILMA Division will provide contract engineering and consulting services as part of the ongoing relationship.
CimStation Inspection Off-Line CMM Programming and Simulation Software uses simulation and virtual manufacturing technology to achieve error-free CMM off-line programming in a production environment. It leverages 3D CAD models to generate programs off-line up to 10 times faster than traditional CMM programming methods.
