Concurrent Computer Corporation Systems Selected for Major Automobile Manufacturer Project
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--Aug. 20, 1998--
-- $1.5 Million of Concurrent Real-Time Systems to Upgrade
Test Equipment --
Concurrent Computer Corporation announced today that a major North American automobile manufacturer selected Concurrent's Power Hawk(tm) computer systems and real-time PowerWorks(tm) software for use in powertrain dynamometer testing. The contract calls for delivery of up to 21 integrated real-time systems over the next 9 months. The value of the total contract, which came from the customer's system integrator - debis Information Technology Services, is $1.5 million.
Concurrent teamed with debis Information Technology Services to provide comprehensive integration services along with its scalable, open system, multiprocessing platforms. The customer was seeking to replace unsupported VME processors with newer technology; protect existing VME architecture, I/O boards, and field wiring; and acquire a new real-time operating system. In addition, the customer required a real-time database that would support porting its existing test algorithm code libraries. Concurrent met the customer's requirements with the Power Hawk computer systems, which provide an affordable, open architecture and ease of porting. In addition, Concurrent met the customer's real-time database requirement by providing Vista Control Systems' Vsystem(tm).
"This win follows recent successes at Volvo, Ford, and Toyota and represents another in a series of industrial automotive applications where the real-time solution offered by Concurrent was ideal for the application," said Corky Siegel, Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Concurrent Computer Corporation. "Concurrent knew we could fit this customer's application better than any other company. Our sales team simply had to demonstrate that the debis/Concurrent team had the depth of experience to take the project through every step of implementation. We are pleased to be recognized for our real-time expertise."
