Dana's Perfect Circle Sealed Power Division Named `Best of the Best' By Automotive Industry PeersDETROIT, Aug. 14 -- The readers of prestigious Automotive Industries magazine have voted Dana Corporation's Perfect Circle Sealed Power Division the "Best of the Best" in that magazine's 1998 "Quest For Excellence" competition. Perfect Circle Sealed Power Division captured first place in the Engine/Powertrain Components: Pistons/Rings category. Automotive Industries' 1,800 survey participants included management, designers, engineers and production and quality professionals for domestic and imported vehicle manufacturers. The "Best of the Best" award was presented at a gala dinner ceremony in Detroit August 12. Automotive Industries compared this award to Hollywood's "Oscar" awards, which are also recognition by industry peers. In the words of AI's editors, "There is no greater honor than to receive an `Oscar' from your customers." All of the suppliers were rated on their performance in five categories: Quality, Price, Innovation, Delivery, and Service. Perfect Circle Sealed Power Division scored the highest in each category including the most important "Quality" category. "This award is truly an honor, and it demonstrates what can be achieved by a concerted, division-wide effort to provide superior products and customer service. Being chosen Best of the Best is the result of comprehensive planning, engineering excellence, manufacturing skill and quality control. We are especially pleased that it is our peers who voted us this recognition," said Hugo Ferreira, vice president for Dana's Engine Products Group. According to Dan Moody, president of Perfect Circle Sealed Power Division, "Perfect Circle(R) piston rings sold to engine rebuilders, jobbers, WDs, and repair shops are made with the same machines in the same plants as the OE rings. Aftermarket buyers and installers of piston rings can expect the same perfection in the Perfect Circle(R) piston rings they buy and install."
