Preparing Minority Youth Earns Federal-Mogul Top Honors
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 13 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation
has been awarded the 1998 Corporate Plus Award by INROADS, Inc., a
national, not-for-profit organization that prepares talented minority youth
for professional and managerial careers in business.
    This year marks Federal-Mogul's third summer participating in the INROADS
internship program.  The Corporate Plus Award is given to honor a corporate
client that has demonstrated true leadership in making the INROADS mission a
part of its daily work environment.  Federal-Mogul was chosen to receive this
top honor from the 34 companies participating in the INROADS program.
    "Federal-Mogul is committed in its development of talented young adults in
preparing them for corporate and community leadership," stated Jackie Coburn,
Federal-Mogul staffing manager and business advisor for the INROADS program at
Federal-Mogul.  The company offers students networking opportunities with
other interns and also matches these students with mentors within the
organization who offer business advice, support and assistance.
    Nine INROADS students have internships at Federal-Mogul World Headquarters
in Southfield, Michigan this year.  The students have assignments across a
variety of departments including accounting, audit, corporate communications,
engineering, human resources, information technology, investor relations,
marketing, materials and logistics management and treasury.  The interns
represent Detroit area high schools including Renaissance, Cass and King, and
colleges such as the University of Michigan, Michigan State University,
Oakland University, Western Michigan University, Indiana University, Notre
Dame, Bowling Green and Fisk University.
    "We believe offering students meaningful and important assignments helps
them understand the complexities of today's business world," stated Coburn.
