Netscape and Visteon Automotive Systems Announce Strategic Internet Commerce Alliance
Visteon to Deploy Netscape Commerce Software to Streamline Business With
                      Suppliers and Reach New Customers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., and DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 11
-- Netscape Communications Corporation and Visteon Automotive
Systems today announced a strategic alliance to implement innovative new
electronic commerce solutions for managing Visteon's customer and supply chain
transactions. As part of the new relationship, Visteon will work closely with
Netscape to implement Internet-based electronic commerce solutions that
leverage Visteon's entire community of suppliers and distributors and
accelerate the company's delivery of products and services. This will help
broaden Visteon's market presence as a supplier of integrated systems and
components to global vehicle manufacturers.
The collaboration calls for Visteon to license the entire Netscape
CommerceXpert family of packaged Internet commerce applications, as well as
Netscape Application Server software. Visteon chose the Netscape solution
because it enables the organization to grow its business by delivering a full
range of applications as Internet services. Visteon is called on to meet
critical customer requirements such as support for thousands of users, high
quality of service, 24x7 availability and secure transactions. The Netscape
solution delivers end-to-end packaged applications, a massively scalable
infrastructure, and integration with Visteon's existing business systems which
will help Visteon meet these demands and manage a full spectrum of trading
partners.
"Our alliance with Visteon is proof positive that Netscape's vision for
the Net Economy is rapidly taking shape in a broad array of industries," said
Steve Savignano, senior vice president of Netscape's application products
division. "Netscape's solution is designed to help visionary companies like
Visteon react to the demands of the Net Economy through increased levels of
connectivity with customers and partners and greater execution speed. This
results in increased sales, better channel management, improved customers
service."
"As Visteon looks forward to tremendous global growth, we realize it is
critical to find better ways to serve our customers and work more efficiently
with our suppliers," said Stephen W. Delaney, vice president of supply and
process leadership for Visteon. "This long-term collaboration with Netscape
will allow us to expand our presence into new markets by building an
integrated supply chain that leverages the power and prominence of the
Internet. This enterprise-wide solution will provide the benefits of speed
and flexibility to our customers."
In the next 12 months, Visteon plans to implement Netscape(R) ECXpert
commerce exchange software to enable Web-based electronic data interchange
(EDI) operations with its 100 accounts, moving away from costly value-added
networks (VANs). The company also plans to work with Netscape to streamline
its interactions and transactions with its supply base.
Netscape CommerceXpert is a family of packaged business applications for
end-to-end commerce including commerce exchange, procurement, selling and
customer information services over the Internet. The Netscape CommerceXpert
family includes Netscape ECXpert for commerce exchange, Netscape BuyerXpert

Netscape MerchantXpert for selling goods and services to businesses and
consumers online, and Netscape PublishingXpert for selling online information
and automating customer service.

scalable and reliable Internet application servers for deploying
business-critical applications on the Internet and Extranets. Using prebuilt
