ITT Automotive Is Top Contributor of Cost Savings For Chrysler's 1998 Model Year S.C.O.R.E. Program
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 6 -- ITT Automotive, a unit of ITT
Industries, Inc. , said today that it was the leading contributor
of cost savings under Chrysler's Supplier Cost Reduction Effort
(SCORE) program for the 1998 model year.
During the year, ITT Automotive produced cost savings of more than $31.4
million. Those savings are on top of cost reductions totaling more than $134
million that ITT Automotive's operations have generated for Chrysler in the
three prior years.
ITT Automotive is one of Chrysler's largest global suppliers and systems
integrators. That includes managing the integration program for the entire
brake system of the new 1999 Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee. ITT Automotive also
supplies Chrysler's global manufacturing operations with a wide range of brake
and chassis, electrical and fluid handling systems and other components.
Chrysler achieved $2.1 billion in cost savings through its 1998 SCORE
program, representing a $600 million increase over its original goal of
$1.5 billion and up $900 million over last year's $1.2 billion total.
The SCORE contribution is the eighth major honor that ITT Automotive has
received this year from Chrysler. Earlier this year, Chrysler awarded seven
of ITT Automotive's plants with Gold Pentastar Awards for their high
performance in meeting the automaker's needs for quality, cost reduction, on-
time deliveries and other supplier excellence criteria.
