Hayes Lemmerz International Receives Contract from BMW for Cast Alloy Wheels for the 1998 E46 Platform
    ROMULUS, Mich., Aug. 6 -- Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc.
, the world's leading supplier of wheel and brake components to the
transportation industry, announced today that its European Aluminum Wheels
division has received a contract from BMW for cast alloy wheels for BMW's new
3 series vehicle platform.
    The contract is estimated to be worth more than $6 million per year. The
wheels will be produced at the company's plants in Dello, Italy and Hoboken,
Belgium.
    "This contract represents the latest milestone in our ongoing relationship
with BMW, which continues strong today," said Giancarlo Dallera, president of
European Aluminum Wheels.  "We value this relationship with BMW as a key
supplier of aluminum wheels to BMW worldwide."
