Jaguar U.S. Sales Up in July and for the Year

    MAHWAH, N.J., Aug. 4 -- Jaguar Cars announced today
July U.S. sales of 1,867 cars, up 24 percent compared with July 1997.
Year-to-date U.S. sales for Jaguar are 12,556, up 18 percent compared with the
first seven months of 1997.
    "Our sales continue to grow in strength," said Michael H. Dale, president
of Jaguar Cars North America.  "We're confident that Jaguar will continue to
gain momentum through the remainder of the year."
    Reporting the ninth consecutive month of year-over-year sales improvement,
Jaguar sold 1,391 sedans and 476 sports cars in July.  Year to date, Jaguar
has delivered 8,917 sedans and 3,639 sports cars.
    Jaguar's product lineup in the U.S. includes six models: the XJ8, XJ8 L,
Vanden Plas and XJR sedans, and the XK8 coupe and convertible.  The award-
winning Jaguar XK8 convertible and coupe have continued Jaguar's sports car
heritage.  The XK8 features the 4.0-liter AJ-V8 engine as well as Jaguar's
distinctive styling both inside and out.  Jaguar introduced the AJ-V8 engine
in its sedans for the 1998 model year.  In addition, the cars' elegant wood
and leather interior was redesigned to accommodate upgrades such as side
airbags.
