Audi Records Best July and Best Year-To-Date Since 1987

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., August 4 -- Audi of America, Inc.
reported U.S. sales of 4,050 for the month of July, representing a 43 percent
increase over the same month last year when sales were 2,832.  So far in 1998,
Audi has sold 24,460 automobiles representing a 23.2 percent increase over the
same period last year when the total was 19,851.
    That made it Audi's best July and best year-to-date since 1987.  Models
with the greatest sales were Audi's A4 sedan and wagons at 2,399 for the month
versus last year's 1,975 vehicles sold, representing a 21.5 percent increase.
Year-to-date the A6 continues to show strong growth in the market with sales
of 8,307, a 70.5 percent increase over last year's 4,873.
    Audi has demonstrated this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase
for 42 of the last 44 months.
