Ferrari S.p.A. Selects EAI's VisProducts as its Primary Product Visualization Software for its Racing Division
Ferrari to Use VisProducts to Communicate From Race Track With Ferrari Racing
Team Headquarters in Italy, Providing Instant Feedback on Design Changes to
                                  Race Cars

AMES, Iowa, Aug. 4 -- Engineering Animation, Inc.
, today announced that Ferrari S.p.A. of Maranello, Italy, has
selected EAI's VisProducts for use by Gestione Sportiva, Ferrari's
world-renown racing team. Under the agreement, EAI's VisView(TM) product
visualization software and VisMockUp(R) digital prototyping software will be
used by Ferrari at race sites during testing and racing to connect with
Ferrari's racing division headquarters in Maranello to retrieve, view and mark
up 2D and 3D car components and assemblies.
Easy retrieval and visualization of the latest car assemblies will enable
Ferrari's racing team to communicate and manage changes with Ferrari's design
department more quickly and efficiently, allowing Ferrari design teams to
receive instant feedback on design changes to components and subassemblies on
the company's Formula One racing cars driven by Michael Schumacher and Eddie
Irvine. Ferrari, known for its meticulously crafted luxury sports cars as well
as some of the world's best known Formula One racing cars, will also utilize
EAI's VisProducts in the company's Maranello facilities to view, analyze and
mark up car components and assemblies.
VisProducts will serve as a visual front-end to digital product data by
integrating with the company's proprietary product data management (PDM)
system as well as Ferrari's CAD systems Parametric Technologies' Pro/ENGINEER
and Dassault Systemes' CATIA. Tight integration with Ferrari's CAD and PDM
systems and increased collaboration and communication with product parts and
assemblies will enable Ferrari's Gestione Sportiva to cut development time and
costs, reduce product defects and dramatically decrease the engineering change
order time between races.
"With EAI's VisProducts, for the first time, we are able to visualize a
full vehicle assembly. From the Pro/ENGINEER engine data to the CATIA vehicle
body data, we can now see the car as a full digital mockup. No time is lost
from the race site to the design department," said Alfonso Mauriello, Ferrari
Industrial Processes Department, Information Technology. "In addition to
gaining the ability to perform full digital analysis on entire vehicles and
decreasing engineering change order time, Ferrari selected EAI's software
based on its CAD and hardware platform independence as well as its ability to
easily integrate with our PDM system."
"With EAI's integrated enterprise solutions, the Ferrari racing team will
be able to quickly and easily collaborate with its design department to
instantly react to design changes on vehicle assemblies and components," said
EAI's President and CEO Matthew Rizai. "We are pleased to partner with
industry-leaders like Ferrari to provide them with the next generation of
visualization technology they need to make significant advancements in their
product development processes."
