Goodyear Selects Roney as New Asia Region Vice PresidentAKRON, Ohio, Aug. 3 -- Michael Roney, managing director of Goodyear Brazil, has been named vice president of Goodyear's Asia Region, the company announced today. Roney, 44, replaces Joseph M. Gingo, who will be on special assignment reporting to Chairman, CEO and President, Samir G. Gibara, pending permanent assignment. Roney joined Goodyear in June of 1981 after his graduation from the University of Michigan with a master's degree in accounting and finance. He was assigned to Goodyear International as a management trainee and subsequently transferred to the finance staff of Goodyear Argentina in February 1982. In July of 1982, he went to Peru to join the finance staff, and in 1983 he was named comptroller in Brazil. Roney was appointed finance director for Goodyear Argentina April 1, 1985, and assumed the same post in Brazil in May 1986. In April of 1991, he was appointed sales director of Goodyear Brazil. He returned to Argentina in May of 1994 as managing director. In May of 1995, he was appointed to his present assignment as managing director of Goodyear Brazil. Gingo will be on special assignment reporting to Gibara working on cross- regional issues and coordinating global business activities. In other related moves involving top-level country executives, Christopher Clark, managing director of Goodyear Indonesia will replace Roney in Brazil. Geoff Hess, finance director of Goodyear Turkey, will move to Indonesia as managing director and Rex W. Howe, managing director of Goodyear Malaysia, will move to Turkey in the same capacity. Harish Khosla, general manager of Goodyear Korea, will replace Howe in Malaysia. B.K. Han, finance director of Goodyear Korea, will become general manager, replacing Khosla. In the finance area, Roger N. Feiereisen, currently comptroller, Eastern Europe in Luxembourg, will move to Indonesia to become finance director; Ramesh Kapoor, finance director of Goodyear Philippines, will go to Goodyear Turkey as finance director; Lim Wee How, currently finance director in Goodyear Thailand, will move to the Philippines in the same capacity. A finance director for Goodyear Thailand will be named at a later date. All moves are effective Sept.1.
