Another Record-Setting American Honda Month Driven by CR-V Sales
TORRANCE, Calif., Aug. 3 -- American Honda posted best-ever
July sales of 92,820, up 5.6 percent from the previous year, according to
sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. It was the
company's second-best month ever and was the fourth consecutive record
breaking month.
July was lead by all-time record CR-V sales of 10,697, up 63.8 percent.
With CR-V sales topping the 10,000 mark for the first time ever and Passport
sales of 2,824 up 50.5 percent, total truck sales set a new all-time record of
12,709, up 42.1 percent from last July and up 22.3 percent for 1998.
Continued strong demand for the Civic pushed its sales to 30,891 for the
month, a new July record. Accord sales of 33,795 were off 0.2 percent as
on-hand dealer inventories dropped below a 15-day supply. Both Accord and
Civic are running strong year-to-date, with increases of 18.2 percent and 6.2
percent, respectively.
Acura Division sales of 11,114 were paced by record July sales of the RL
up 29.5 percent and CL sales of 3,225, up 6.8 percent.
