JPE Inc. Announces Delisting by Nasdaq

    ANN ARBOR, Mich.--July 31, 1998--JPE Inc. today announced that it has been notified by the Nasdaq National Stock Market Inc. that JPE's securities will cease trading on the Nasdaq National Market effective with the close of business Aug. 5, 1998, due to the fact that the company does not meet the requirements for continued listing on the Nasdaq National Market based on the company's net tangible assets, market capitalization, and total assets and total revenue.
    The company's securities will be eligible to trade on the OTC Bulletin Board.
    In addition, the company announced that it has scheduled its Annual Meeting of Shareholders for Sept. 30, 1998. Shareholders of record on Aug. 5, 1998 will be mailed proxy materials on or about Aug. 30, 1998. Shareholder proposals intended to be considered at the meeting must be received by the company no later than Aug. 17, 1998.
    JPE Inc. is a manufacturer and distributor of automotive and truck components for the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and the aftermarket.
