Otay Mesa Plant Now in Production of Chassis & Components

30 July 1998

Otay Mesa Plant Now in Production of Chassis & Components, First Vehicle Due Out First Week of August
BURBANK, Calif., July 30 -- BAT International
(OTC Bulletin Board: BAAT) announced today that the Otay Mesa, Mexico Auto
Plant is completed and has been producing and stockpiling chassis, hoods and a
variety of other components for the past two weeks (see Press Release
Dated 5-6-98).
Assembly personnel are being trained to craft finished vehicles from
chassis and other parts currently under production.
The plant is designed to manufacture electric and gasoline vehicles using
an advanced monocoque composite chassis that is extremely durable, strong,
safe, and can carry heavy loads. Three configurations of vehicle will be
produced that include sport utility vehicle, pickup truck and delivery van.
The first vehicle is expected to roll out of the plant in early August.
The chassis design is ideally suited for electric vehicles and will also
improve fuel economy of gasoline vehicles. Electric delivery vehicles, pickup
trucks, and SUV's are in strong demand in both commercial and consumer sectors
in Mexico City because of restrictions on the use of commercial and personal
vehicles during smog alerts.
The Mexican auto plant is also a showcase facility and training center to
set up other vehicle manufacturing plants worldwide. BAT has exclusive
worldwide rights to the use of the World Transportation Authority monocoque
chassis for production of electric vehicles. Negotiations are occurring with
various countries concerning licensing of vehicle and electric drive
technology.
An Open House (limited to 200 visitors, RSVP only) will be held in
September for prospective buyers to tour the plant and test drive the new
lightweight composite models.
BAT International is organized as a holding company with major ownership
position in a set of subsidiary companies now commercializing advanced
automotive energy technology products developed by BAT over the last six
years, including anti-friction metal treatment (TVT(TM)), electric vehicles,
super efficient or high power engines, advanced batteries and power
electronics, electric bicycles & scooters and electric power generation. (For
