Etak Premium Map Databases Now Available in Shapefile Format; ESRI ArcView Users Now Gain Direct Access to High-End Etak Street Databases
MENLO PARK, Calif.--July 27, 1998--Etak Inc., a leading publisher of digital map databases, software technology and traveler information services, today announced that Etak's EtakMap Premium street databases are now available in ESRI's shapefile format -- one of the most popular and widely accepted formats for geographic data.By extending its data format options to include shapefiles, Etak makes its positionally accurate and complete street information directly available to ArcView users.
Map data in a shapefile format is available today from Etak as a standard product. The ArcView format converts ArcInfo to shapefiles in a native format preserving the topology of the map data from one format to the other.
In addition to shapefiles, Etak data is also available in MapAccess -- Etak's high-speed/highly compressed format, MapBase, Etak's ASCI interchange format and Map Info's interchange format.
EtakMap Premium, a high-end, positionally accurate digital map database of the United States, offers street information for all fifty states.
Features include geocoding and routing functionality, the best connectivity in the industry, more shape points for smooth lines, political and census geography and prominent landmark point features in major urban areas. Etak MapPremium is available in various levels of geography, including USA, multi-state, state and county.
As an added feature, users can integrate Etak MapPremium into an ArcView environment using Etak Data Loader, a fully customizable tool that installs and defines the graphic features of Etak data layers in the ArcView environment. In addition, users of Etak Data Loader have a choice between either Etak's default symbol environment or their own customized interface.
