Etak Online Geocoding Services Now Available Within ArcView

    Geocoding Capability


    Etak Inc., a leading publisher of digital street map databases, software technology and traveler information services, Monday announced that its convenient online geocoding service -- EZ-Locate
-- will now be available from within ESRI's ArcView GIS.
    EZ-Locate is an online, on-demand geocoding service that enables users to send street addresses over the Internet to the Etak geocoding server. EZ-Locate standardizes the addresses, appends latitude/longitude coordinates as well as census and postal data, and returns the geocoded results to you in real-time within a new ArcView GIS theme. EZ-Locate can geocode up to 10 addresses per second with transmission dependant upon Internet traffic.
    There are no map databases to license and maintain, and no address matching software to purchase and configure. EZ-Locate simply appends latitude/longitude coordinates and other data to a user defined ArcView GIS theme.
    The EZ-Locate ArcView extension is available at no charge and downloadable from Etak's Web site. However, ArcView GIS users must subscribe to the EZ-Locate service. "EZ-Locate is attractively priced based on volume with prices starting as low as $50 for 1,000 online geocodes. In an introductory limited time offer, Etak will offer new EZ-Locate subscribers 100 free geocodes," said Terry Smail, Etak's senior vice president, sales and marketing.
    "Customers asked for and helped us define EZ-Locate's on-demand approach," said Smail. "Through this extension, ArcView users can now take advantage of real-time, accurate geocoding as well."
    According to Smail, Etak's revolutionary geocoding technology forms the basis of the EZ-Locate service. A combination of postal standardization software, positionally accurate maps, and advanced geocoding techniques transform addresses into the most accurate geographic coordinates, census codes and postal codes available today.
    EZ-Locate features for ArcView GIS users include functionality from within the ArcView GIS interface, current and well-maintained address information, real-time access and the ability to add address locations to non-Etak map data.
