Whistler Corporation Appoints Chief Operating Officer; Richard J. Corbin to lead strategic operations for Whistler Corporation


    CHELMSFORD, Mass.--July 27, 1998--Whistler Corporation, the privately-held maker of automotive, home and business products that keep consumers in touch, in comfort and in control, today announced the appointment of Richard J. Corbin to its executive management team as Chief Operating Officer. This nomination continues Whistler's commitment to strategic investments, in both its organization and personnel, and reinforces its dedication to superior products and service as it grows in the broad-based consumer electronics industry.
    As Chief Operating Officer for Whistler Corporation Corbin will focus on improving efficiencies in the company's day-to-day operations as well as planning and implementing strategic growth initiatives for both the Enhanced Driving Tools and Auto-Mation products divisions.
    Corbin will work directly with Whistler's president and CEO, A. Michael Burnell in an effort to increase the company's market share and strengthen Whistler's brand recognition.

    Corbin is a proven leader and champion of positive change and strategic direction for businesses across many industries. Before joining Whistler, he was president and CEO of EMCO, a $55 million wholesaler of office products affiliated with Merrill Lynch. Prior to that he was concurrently president of EKCO Housewares, a $300 million provider of branded bakeware and kitchenware, and executive vice president of its parent company, EKCO Group, Inc. Dick also served as president and CEO of Forster Manufacturing Company, Inc., a $67 million manufacturer of a variety of consumer products with varied distribution channels.
