Johnson Controls Declares Cash Dividend

    MILWAUKEE, July 22 -- The Board of Directors of Johnson
Controls, Inc. today declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of
$0.23 per common share.  The dividend is payable September 30, 1998 to
shareholders of record September 11, 1998.
    Johnson Controls has paid consecutive dividends since 1885.
    Johnson Controls, Inc., with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wis., is a global
