URG Releases Pinnacle Computer System For Auto Recyclers
DENVER, July 22 -- Today, United Recyclers Group, LLC (URG)
is pleased to announce that its advanced computer information management
computer system, the Pinnacle Auto Recycling Trading System (PARTS)(TM), has
been released for general use. United Recyclers Group, LLC is a recently
formed partnership of over 360 premier auto recyclers in North America. The
Pinnacle system utilizes the "Hollander Interchange," an indexing tool that
allows recyclers to know what selection of auto parts will fit a vehicle.
Pinnacle represents the only modern computer management system currently
available to Auto Recyclers designed solely by Recyclers for Recyclers. The
systems that most recyclers use, run on decades old operating platforms.
Pinnacle beginnings can be traced to dissatisfaction with the current
systems available to recyclers. Many URG Partners were unhappy with the
technology and service levels available to them from their current information
management suppliers and thus URG was formed.
URG created a joint venture to deploy a new computer system for recyclers
with Actual Systems of America (ASA). ASA is a software development company
with roots in Scotland that has been providing management systems for Auto
Recyclers in the UK for more than 10 years. Both ASA and URG are based in
Denver, Colorado.
The new system is state-of-the-art and utilizes technology previously
unavailable in the industry; some of these features include: imaging, bar
coding, ability to use any Windows program, external e-mail capability, and
instantaneous access to other recyclers' inventories via URGNet(TM).
URGNet(TM) is an inventory sharing process whereby all recyclers using
PARTS(TM) have instant access to all other users inventory automatically.
This inventory sharing is done via a nightly transfer of information. The
Pinnacle utilizes UNIX and Windows NT. UNIX is a very stable operating system
that was originally used in the development of the Internet and integrates
well with Windows NT.
Collectively, this group of auto recyclers raised over $2 million dollars
to complete this impressive project. In addition, the joint venture is
structured to set aside 25% of monthly maintenance revenues to further develop
and enhance the system. This system improvements incentive is almost unheard
of in the software industry.
