21 July 1998

Navistar International Transportation Corporation Purchases Transom Jack Human Simulation Software
           Manufacturer of International(R) Trucks to Use Software
                        To Analyze Ergonomics of Cabs

    ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 21 -- Transom Technologies, Inc.
announced today that Navistar International Transportation Corporation,
producer of International(R) brand medium and heavy trucks, school buses, and
midrange diesel engines, has purchased its industry leading Transom(TM)
Jack(R) human modeling and simulation software.
    Transom Jack will be used at Navistar's Technology and Engineering Center
in Fort Wayne, Indiana to evaluate the human factors and ergonomics of cab
designs for the company's line of trucks and school buses. Navistar plans to
conduct a variety of ergonomic analyses including visibility, reach and
comfort.
     "We're excited to be helping Navistar improve the ergonomics of its
vehicles," said James D. Price, president and CEO of Transom. "Navistar joins
a growing community of organizations that use Transom Jack to improve the
design, manufacturing and maintenance of various vehicles."
    Transom Jack users in the automotive and ground vehicle industries include
BMW/Land Rover, Case, Caterpillar, Deere, FMC, Ford, Melroe, PACCAR, Toyota,
the U.S. Army and Volvo. These organizations use Transom Jack to improve the
ergonomics of product designs and refine workplace tasks. Jack digital humans
can tell engineers what they can see and reach, how comfortable they are, why
they're getting hurt, when they're getting tired, and other ergonomic
information. This helps organizations design safer, more effective products
faster and for less cost. It also helps them bring factories on line faster
and optimize productivity while improving worker safety.
    Navistar International Transportation Corporation, with world headquarters
in Chicago, and 1997 annual sales of $6.4 billion, is the leading North
American producer of heavy and medium trucks and school buses. Navistar has
led the market in combined sales of medium and heavy trucks and school buses
in the U.S. and Canada for 17 consecutive years.
    Transom Technologies, a privately held company headquartered in Ann Arbor,
Michigan, is the world's leading provider of human modeling and simulation
software. Commercial, government and academic organizations throughout the
world use the company's Transom Jack software to improve the ergonomics and
human factors of product designs, refine manufacturing and maintenance
processes, and train personnel. Transom customers include such prominent
organizations as Bombardier; British Aerospace; CSI; Case; Caterpillar; Deere;
Ford; GE Aircraft Engines; GM Delphi; Lockheed Martin; NASA; PACCAR; Toyota;
