Statement from Budd Canada Inc. on the Impact of the General Motors Strike

    KITCHENER, Ontario, July 20 -- Budd Canada Inc. today
announced that as a result of the ongoing General Motors strike,
the company will lay off 100 more hourly workers.
    This will bring to 700 the number of workers on temporary lay off as a
result of the General Motors strike.
    Budd Canada Inc. is located in Kitchener, Ontario and produces frames and
chassis components for the North American Automotive manufacturers.  The plant
employs approximately 1,600.
