Defiance, Inc., Names Scherschel President of Defiance Precision Products
CLEVELAND, July 17 -- Defiance, Inc. announced
the appointment of Benjamin A. Scherschel as president of its largest
subsidiary, Defiance Precision Products, Inc. Defiance Precision, based in
Defiance, Ohio, is a major supplier of cam follower rollers, roller axles and
other specialty anti-friction bearings and precision-machined components.
Scherschel comes to Defiance following a 31-year career with General
Motors Corporation, including 27 years in manufacturing. For the last five
years he served as plant manager of Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems, a $700
division of GM's Delphi Automotive Systems, in Dayton, Ohio, that manufactures
automotive air conditioning compressors and A/C components. Before that,
Scherschel was plant manager of GM's Power Train plant in Massena, New York, a
$400 million operation that manufactures and machines aluminum castings.
Scherschel holds a B.S.M.E. from Purdue University.
"Ben's success as a senior level manufacturing executive at General Motors
makes him an exceptional choice to head Defiance Precision Products," said
Jerry A. Cooper, president and chief executive officer of Defiance, Inc.
"Although he has been managing complex operations much larger than ours, he
has a hands-on, participative operating style that will fit well at Defiance
Precision."
