USA Truck Announces Operating Results

    VAN BUREN, Ark.--July 9, 1998--USA Truck Inc. (NASDAQ NMS: USAK) today announced record operating revenues of $37,387,246 for the quarter ended June 30, 1998, up 16.5% from $32,079,177 for the same quarter of 1997. The Company's revenues have increased for ten consecutive quarters. Net income increased 45.4% to $2,798,077 for the second quarter of 1998, compared to $1,924,990 for the second quarter of 1997, an increase of 45.0% in diluted net income per share to $.29 from $.20. These amounts represent the highest net income and diluted net income per share for any quarter in the Company's history.
    For the six months ended June 30, 1998, operating revenues increased 15.7% to $72,610,449, from $62,739,287 for the six months ended June 30, 1997. Net income increased 60.2% to $5,135,794 for the six months ended June 30, 1998, compared to $3,206,593 for the six months ended June 30, 1997, an increase of 58.8% in diluted net income per share to $.54 from $.34.
