Budget Names 27-Year Hertz Veteran as President and Chief Operating Officer of Budget Rent a Car International, Inc. in Europe, Middle East and Africa

    LISLE, Ill., July 9 -- Budget Rent a Car Corporation, the
world's third largest car and truck rental system and a wholly owned
subsidiary of Budget Group, Inc. , announced today the appointment
of Jean-Claude Ghiotti as president and chief operating officer of Budget Rent
a Car International, Inc., having responsibility for most of Budget's
corporate-owned and franchised operations in Europe, the Middle East and
Africa.  Ghiotti will join Budget on or about August 1, 1998.
    Ghiotti joins Budget from Hertz, where he had a successful 27-year career.
Since 1990, he has been president directeur generale, Hertz France.  In 1997,
he was promoted to the additional position of general manager Europe of Hertz
Equipment Rental.
    While heading Hertz's operations in France, Ghiotti was responsible for
improving revenue, market share and profitability.  During his career, Ghiotti
gained extensive knowledge in operations, fleet and distribution management,
maintenance and logistics.  In addition, Ghiotti was instrumental in the
turnaround of the Hertz Equipment Rental business in Europe.
