Clive Warrilow Hands Over Presidency Of Volkswagen of America and Volkswagen Canada
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 8 -- Dr. Jens Neumann, Member of
the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and Chairman of the North American
Region, announced today that 35-year Volkswagen Group veteran, Clive Warrilow,
will hand over the Presidency of Volkswagen of America and Volkswagen Canada
at the end of this year to Gerd Klauss, currently Vice President of Volkswagen
of America and head of Audi in the U.S.A. and Canada.
Warrilow's international career has spanned three countries -- South
Africa, Canada, and the United States. He has a proven track record in
turnaround situations, the most significant being his current assignment with
the Group and the success being enjoyed by both the Volkswagen and Audi Brands
in the U.S. and Canada. Warrilow is well respected for his values, his focus
on soft management, and a commitment to process-orientation.
Klauss has nearly 25 years of experience in the automotive industry in
Europe and North America. After receiving his Ph.D. in Economics, he joined
Daimler-Benz AG in Stuttgart, Germany in 1974. Four years later he
transferred to Mercedes-Benz of North America and served in a number of
capacities ranging from General Manager, Marketing Planning and Communications
to Vice President Operations, Marketing and Corporate Development. He came to
Audi of America in the fall of 1992 and was instrumental in developing and
implementing Audi's Comeback and Breakthrough Strategies in the U.S. and
Canada.
