United Road Services, Inc. Announces Large Block of AcquisitionsALBANY, N.Y., July 7 -- United Road Services, Inc. announced today it has acquired, or completed definitive agreements to acquire, seven towing and five transport companies with aggregate 1997 revenues of approximately $57 million. Since completion of its initial public offering in May, the Company has extended its network of motor vehicle, equipment towing, and transport services to every region of the country. The new states to join the network are Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Tennessee, Utah and Washington. The transport companies being acquired are: Alert Auto Transport, Inc. (Alabama); 5-L Corporation, Schroeder Auto Services, Inc. (Colorado); Neil's Auto Transport (Utah); and Car Transporters Corporation (Washington). The towing companies being acquired are: All-Valley Impound, D&M Auto Towing, Fast Towing, Inc. (Arizona); Bill & Wags Towing (California); North Shore Towing, Inc. (Illinois); Rouse's Body Shop, Inc. (Washington); and West Nashville Wrecker Service, Inc. (Tennessee). United Road Services also offers vehicle and road services in the states of Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey and Nevada. The Company now has 27 service facilities located in 12 states. Edward T. Sheehan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United Road Services, Inc., said, "We have significantly exceeded our acquisition target for the first quarter since going public. We're also pleased with the progress we have achieved in successfully integrating our founding companies into a national service delivery network, while maintaining our focus on customer satisfaction. United Road Services has now achieved a revenue run rate in excess of $100 million, and has letters of intent to acquire 55 additional companies, with aggregate trailing 12 month revenues of approximately $134 million." Formed in July 1997, United Road Services, Inc., is a major provider of vehicle and equipment towing and transport services in the United States. The Company's broad range of services includes towing, impounding and storing motor vehicles, conducting lien sales and auctions of abandoned vehicles, and transporting new and used vehicles and heavy construction equipment. The Company's customer base includes national automobile leasing and insurance companies, automobile dealers, governmental agencies, automobile auction companies and individual motorists.
