Charlotte Area Toyota Sales Rise In June

    MIAMI, July 7 -- Toyota's five Charlotte-area dealers today
reported a 30-percent climb in June retail car sales and an eight-percent gain
in June retail truck sales over the year-ago month.
    Charlotte-area Toyota dealers include Harrelson Toyota, Scott Clark's
Toyota, Town and Country Toyota, Toyota of Concord and Toyota of Gastonia.
    In the five-state region served by Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc.,
total retail sales advanced 12 percent over June 1997.
    "We are anticipating sustained sales momentum through the summer,
especially with the introduction of the new Camry Solara in August," said
Southeast Toyota General Manager John Williams.
    Ranked first among Toyota's American distributors in sales and customer
