Tampa/St. Petersburg Area Toyota Sales Climb In June

    MIAMI, July 7 -- Toyota's five Tampa/St. Petersburg-area
dealers today reported a 28-percent climb in June retail car sales and a
26 percent gain in June retail truck sales over the year-ago month.
    Tampa/St.Petersburg-area dealers include Clearwater Toyota, Sutherlin
Toyota, located in Pinellas Park; and Tampa's Courtesy Toyota, Precision
Toyota and Stadium Toyota.
    In the five-state region served by Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc.,
total retail sales advanced 12 percent over June 1997.
    "We are anticipating sustained sales momentum through the summer,
especially with the introduction of the new Camry Solara in August," said
Southeast Toyota General Manager John Williams.
