Best-Ever June Sales Reported by Toyota's Kansas City Region

    KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 6 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region
posted its best-ever car sales in June.  Total car and truck sales increased
28 percent over last year.
    New car sales at 74 Toyota dealers in Iowa, Kansas, South and North
Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska totaled 2,307, a 27 percent increase over last
year's 1,812 sales.
    "Our Kentucky-built Camry and Avalon had their best-ever June sales," said
Bruce Ertmann, general manager of the Kansas City Region.  "Our Spring Sales
Rally was a huge success, contributing to a record setting sales month for
1998."
    "Corolla had an impressive 37 percent sales gain and Camry continues its
momentum with 1,087 sales, a 33 percent increase.  Our dealers are confident
they can carry over strong sales numbers for a record banner year, if the
economy and consumer confidence remain unchanged," said Ertmann.
