J.P. Morgan Announces Appointment of Italian Member to International Advisory Board

    NEW YORK--July 6, 1998--J.P. Morgan & Co. Inc. announced today the appointment to its International Council of Marco Tronchetti Provera, chairman and chief executive officer of Pirelli S.p.A., Milan, Italy.
    The International Council, which was established in 1967, includes leaders in business and public life from 16 countries who meet periodically and advise J.P. Morgan's management on international issues. The council's chairman is former U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz.
    The Pirelli Group was founded in 1872 by Giovanni Battista Pirelli. Pirelli S.p.A. is the holding company which owns and controls all the group's operations worldwide. Pirelli is a leader in the technology of Tires and Cables & Systems, its two core businesses, which are manufactured in 72 plants located in 16 countries all over the world with an overall turnover of about $6 billion, and a workforce of about 36,000.
